How is Krav Maga Different?
Traditional Martial Arts emphasize history, tradition, ritual, and techniques developed centuries ago with little to no evolution. (e.g. Karate, Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido)
Combat Sports develop athleticism, conditioning, and fighting skill confined within the rules of one-on-one competition with referees and points. (e.g. Boxing, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, MMA)
Krav Maga is designed for modern-day self-protection. It prepares ordinary people to recognize, avoid, and respond to real-world violence, including multiple attackers and weapons, with one goal: getting home safely.
Are you affiliated in any way, shape, or form, legally, politically, or financially to the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) or Israeli government?
No. Our school has absolutely no affiliation with or connection to the IDF or Israeli government. Krav Maga Central District is an affiliate of Krav Maga Alliance. Krav Maga Alliance also does not have any affiliation with or connection to the IDF or Israeli government.
We of course will acknowledge the history and origins of Krav Maga because where it comes from (Israel) and who founded it (Imi Lichtenfeld) are undeniable facts. However, this acknowledgement does not mean that we promote, condone, or advocate for the atrocities happening in Gaza and to Palestinians.
We get this question every now and then, and it’s a valid question. Please rest assured that your membership dues are not being sent to the Israel government or military.
