UW SIGMA KAPPA members participated in a 90-minute women’s self-defense seminar in their sorority house. Members learned the basics of effective and powerful striking, as well as defenses against a choke while standing and while being pinned to the ground.
CENTRAL PIZZA owner and staff participated in a 90-minute self-defense seminar at their restaurant. Learning how to adapt to and use one’s environment to their advantage is an important Krav Maga skill. Training at the place where they spend most of their time helps them conceptualize and internalize their Krav Maga experience that much more quickly and effectively.
With the increase in physical assaults and racists attacks against AAPI communities all over the nation including here in Seattle, SENIOR CITIZENS who live within the Chinatown/ID neighborhood were invited to participate in two free self-defense seminars specifically tailored to their needs, namely the basics of how to defend against attacks using a cane.
For two hours, thanks to support from ADWAS, members of the deaf and hard-of-hearing community learned basic combatives and a defense against a choke with the goal of helping them understand the actual level aggressiveness needed to defend themselves. This was a fantastic opportunity for this community to learn a new skill that they would’ve otherwise not have sought out or had access to due to potential language barriers.
The rapid increase in threats and assaults against and murders of members of LGBTQIA+ communities across the nation prompted PEER SEATTLE, a non-profit organization that provides peer-based emotional support and health and wellness services to the area’s LGBTQIA+ community, to invite KMCD in to teach a 90-minute Krav Maga seminar to their staff.
The rapid increase in threats and assaults against and murders of members of LGBTQIA+ communities across the nation prompted PEER SEATTLE, a non-profit organization that provides peer-based emotional support and health and wellness services to the area’s LGBTQIA+ community, to invite KMCD in to teach another 90-minute Krav Maga seminar, this time to their volunteers.
CONTRACT FURNISHINGS MART invited KMCD in to teach a 90-minute self-defense seminar to their staff and spouses. A participant lamented how she's had to send female account managers on interstate sales trips in pairs for their safety, given that it's a male-dominated industry and that customer locations sometimes aren't in the safest of areas. It's great to see these students be proactive about their safety.
UW ALPHA KAPPA DELTA PHI members participated in a 90-minute women’s self-defense seminar. Members learned the basics of effective and powerful striking, as well as defenses against a choke while standing and kicking an attack out from between one's legs.
Polly, Forum moderator for Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), reached out to KMCD to schedule a 1.5hr self-defense seminar for her forum's members. This group meets monthly to learn different skills and engage in various community service activities, and this month they chose to learn how to protect themselves.
HILLEL UW invited Krav Maga Central District to teach a 90-minute self-protection seminar to its students and young professionals. Antisemitic hate crimes have risen precipitously, so Hillel UW wanted to make sure its members were equipped to handle and escape assaults if they ever happened.
Pride Alliance of McKinstry's Seattle office invited Krav Maga Central District in to teach a 90-minute on-site self-protection seminar to its members. The LGBTQ+ community remains a target and under constant threat of physical harm. McKinstry's Pride Alliance wants to make sure that those who identify as queer are well equipped with the skills and mindset to escape and survive.
J CONNECT schedule a series of four seminars for their members to attend every other Monday on a drop-in basis. It's a great way for their members to network with each other while learning how to protect themselves.
The Program Advocacy and Communication team at THE GATES FOUNDATION hired us to teach an on-site seminar for their team social. Due to the current world events, they decided that a self-protection class would be useful, ultimately choosing Krav Maga because they saw it as the most real-life skill for women walking around big cities.
The SEATTLE SISTERS OF PERPETUAL INDULGENCE ABBEY OF ST. JOHN hired Krav Maga Central District to teach a 90-minute seminar to their sisters. The senseless attacks on drag communities across the nation, Abbey of St. John wanted to make sure that their sisters are capable of protecting themselves and those they care about.
